Great Barrier Reef

Jessi and I stopped by the Zoo the other weekend to see the new Great Barrier Reef exhibit. They've renovated the Australasia pavalion to include this exhibit. Basically the layout is the same except instead of the old Edge of Night area there is now a Great Barrier Reef (and islands) area. Don't worry, the wombat and sugar gliders are still there! They have some really nice aquariums. One has different types of corals, another has Anemones, another has Jelly Fish and the last one has a reef scene (pictured to the right). It doesn't compare to the Maui Ocean Center, but for a zoo so far from the ocean it's fantastic!


Additionally, the zoo is hosting a rotating exhibit called Stingray Bay. You have to pay $3 per person in addition to the admission price to see this but you get to touch a stingray. It was actually pretty cool. Jessi was thrilled to touch the stingrays. They are slimy kind of like a sea cucumber. I've included a video below.
