Finally, Conditioned Air...

After many summers of considering getting an air conditioner for our room, Jessi and I finally broke down. The house actually has central air but on the warm sunny days, the 13 windows become a serious detriment and temperatures sometimes get well into the 30s. Gadget can't tolerate temperatures that high so that was the last straw. Now we will be able to enjoy cool nights and not worry about Gadge during the day!

The only problem was that our windows are not standard. They open outward instead of up or to the side. That ruled out conventional air conditioners and meant that we had to shell out the extra bucks to get a portable air conditioner. We also had to enlist Tony's help to create a clear plastic shield where the bug screen went so we could vent the air conditioner to the outside. Whew.. Well it's up and running (although this week isn't hot enough to use it!). Here's a picture for the curious:
