Elections

Yesterday was another provincial election for us here in Ontario. At the end of the day the Liberals won out with 71 votes, the PCs with 26 and the NDP with 10. The interesting news is that the Green party won 8% of the popular vote (more than double from the previous provincial election). That means that around 353,000 people in Ontario wanted the Green party to represent them. To me that's a strong reason to include some form of proportional representation in our electoral system.

There was a referendum question asking just that. It was defeated. I'm guessing most people like the status quo but alot of young people supported the new voting method and I think it will probably only be a matter of time (like 8-12 years) before it comes back again.
